RIVERVIEW AT THE PRESERVE
Waterfront living in the heart of Chesapeake
by Kymberly Bach
As visitors enter the gated community of Riverview at the Preserve, they are transported into an outdoor oasis where relaxation and sunsets are routine, and nature and recreation are literally right outside their back door. "A new and unique waterfront community has come to Chesapeake; Riverview at the Preserve is located on the Intracoastal Waterway with an incredible view and easy living," says on-site agent Cindy Godsell.
"The builder, WeldenField & Rowe Custom Homes, has done a beautiful job of making this a premier community, especially with all of the outdoor amenities: an outdoor pavilion with boat slips, canoe, and kayak storage, an oyster-shucking station, a pergola with picnic tables, lit walkways, and fire pits complete with outdoor seating. All of the outdoor living features have been carefully planned with the idea of building a comfortable, worry-free environment for the residents and their guests," Cindy explains enthusiastically.
A beautiful addition is a specially ordered bronze heron, the official bird of Chesapeake, which sits on a gracefully landscaped perch waiting to greet all of his visitors. The beauty of the natural scenery and the landscaping is stunning, but the benefits of living close to nature go beyond just pleasing the eye. According to new research, living closer to nature has many health benefits for physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Imagine the serenity and peace brought about by gazing every day at the green of the grass and trees, and the blue of the sky and water.
The over-water, screened pavilion has plentiful seating. It's the perfect picnic spot, or just a great place to relax.
The incredible view from the pavilion is of protected wetlands across the waterway; residents and their guests can sit and watch the sunset in stylish comfort in the beautifully furnished screened area, or on the expansive deck over the water. Jim and Lynne Morton, the first buyers in Riverview, have already established a new evening ritual. "We're going to sit in the pavilion, watch the sunset and boats go by, and meet our new neighbors and friends while sipping on a cold beverage," Jim says smiling.

Jim and Lynne were looking to downsize because their children are grown. They owned a home in Riverwalk and they knew they wanted to stay in the Chesapeake area. "We were really attracted to Riverview because of its location and the unique design of the community. We absolutely fell in love with it, and it met all of our needs," Lynne exclaimed. "We purchased the home sight-unseen with just a floor plan to guide us." There are four single home models and seven town home models from which to choose.
Moving day couldn't have come fast enough for Jim and Lynne. "We can't believe it's finally here because we've been talking about it for so long. Working with both the builder and Cindy has been a great experience at every turn. We're the first ones to move in and we're thrilled; we've even met a number of our future neighbors," says Jim. "With all the amenities and the quality environment we think this is going to be a great transition for us!"

Attention to detail is extremely important to WeldenField & Rowe Custom Homes. "The quality of work and care that they put into developing is remarkable," says Cindy. "It's not about building as many homes as they can on a piece of property. This builder really pays attention to the overall look and feel of the community." Their core principles of Integrity, Commitment, Teamwork, Quality and Excellence form the cornerstone of all of their projects. The relationship they build with their buyers is a testament to the result they achieve by dedicating themselves to those guiding principles. After 30 years of custom home building and development they take great pride in being able to offer quality construction while focusing on easy maintenance and timeless curb appeal that homeowners can appreciate for a lifetime.
"This community is very appealing to folks who want maintenance-free living and who love the outdoors. As a gated condominium neighborhood, residents are not responsible for any lawn care, painting, or roofing," Cindy points out.
Kirk and Debra Nichols just happened to be driving by one evening and decided to see what Riverview had to offer. Their curiosity was well rewarded. The quarter mile drive into the subdivision had them sold because of the country feeling. "We're both from the country, and once we saw the view, we decided to buy the two story plan with balcony off the master bedroom. I get to wake up to that view each morning and go to sleep to it each night," Debra explains. "The condo style living really suits us because my husband is in the Navy and I'm a traveling nurse, so we are out of town a lot. Now, we'll be able to leave and won't have to worry about finding someone to take care of our house. It's perfect for us!"
Because most of the various floor plans have master bedrooms on the first floor, they are ideal for older couples. The maintenance free living also appeals to young professionals who don't have time for yard work or repairs, but who love the outdoors and want to drop their canoe or kayak in the water on a whim. "The builder has made Riverview at the Preserve accommodating for everyone," says Cindy. "We have one entire section of large town homes that have master bedrooms on the first floor, and homesites for single family homes that have breathtaking views of the water."
With houses in a variety of colors and models and breath-taking designs and detailing inside, the view from inside Riverview is just as beautiful as what can be found outside on the water
WeldenField & Rowe Custom Homes makes many options available to give the buyer control of customizing their new home. For example, the 25 single family homes will all have deep water access. A private pier and boat dock are wonderful options for anyone who owns a boat or plans to purchase one.

As a courtesy, WeldenField & Rowe Custom Homes offers all of their buyers a one-time no cost consultation with Susan Wilson, of Susan Wilson Interiors, to add their own personal signature to their home's design. Susan will meet with the buyer to help them pick the colors for tiles, cabinets, flooring, paint, and more. "I've been doing this for a really long time, and with a few key selections I can usually pinpoint the direction the buyers want to go in. I can help them narrow down their options," Susan continues. "They can also bring me pictures or swatches of a favorite piece of furniture, and I can get a feel for what they want."
