Portsmouth Sports
The Portsmouth Sports Club held their monthly meeting at Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club. The club honored Coaches Lisa Carnes and Leon Goolsby of I.C. Norcom High School for leading their teams to State Championships in Boys Track and Basketball. Also honored were Western Branch high school coaches Claude Toukene for Girls State Track Championships and Roland Wright for Boys State Championship in baseball. Guest Speaker Roger Brown gave a great presentation on his 10 years in the NFL. Part of the Fearsome Foursome for the Los Angeles Rams, Roger compiled an impressive record as a defensive lineman, making All-Pro 10 times. Mr. Brown's advice to young athletes: Put as much or more effort in your studies as you put into your sport and you will be fine.
