Nestled in the heart of Western Branch, Midgette Family Dentistry is famous for its unyielding commitment to the health and well-being of its patients. Offering a broad spectrum of dental services, the practice caters to all ages, with comfort being an integral part of its philosophy. This is reflected in the office's cozy atmosphere, where the team's dedication and professionalism shine through in relationships with their patients.
In line with this warm, professional, and stress-free ethos, Midgette Family Dentistry is thrilled to welcome the latest addition to their team: dental surgeon Dr. Max Marzouk. A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Marzouk's proficiency extends the gamut of dentistry and dental surgery, with a particular inclination towards state-of-the-art teeth restoration using computer-aided design and other notable techniques-all of which hold a special fascination for the enthusiastic and thoughtful Dr. Marzouk.
"The new technologies for fixing teeth are incredible," Dr. Marzouk says, "especially in terms of convenience for the patient. It's one of the main reasons I came to Midgette Family Dentistry-because of their commitment to investing in the latest, most innovative tools."
Before embarking on his journey into dentistry, Dr. Marzouk graduated from James Madison University with a degree in arts. After undergrad, Dr. Marzouk initially worked as a graphic designer, where he refined his eye for precision and aesthetics. But his career trajectory shifted to dentistry after he began considering medicine as a potential new path.
"I had leanings toward art and science," Dr. Marzouk recalls, "and early on, I found a great mentor in my mom's lifelong dentist, Dr. Price. He told me that dentistry is art, craft, science, and medicine all rolled into one. That was a home run for me because those were the exact things I was looking for in a profession."
Dr. Marzouk would go on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and then further strengthen his skills and knowledge with a postgraduate residency at New York Medical College and at the high-volume Level I Trauma unit at Westchester Medical Center, where he garnered vital surgical skills. This dynamic tapestry of education and experience shaped Dr. Marzouk's unique approach to dentistry, a perspective that emphasizes aesthetics and functionality achieved through technology.
"During my residency," Dr. Marzouk recalls, "surgery became my primary pursuit. I remember the day my interest was ignited. I'd filled in for a surgical resident during an operating room rotation and assisted in an eight-hour jaw surgery. I found the entire process completely absorbing-akin to piecing together a complex puzzle that was both intricate and fascinating."

In time, Dr. Marzouk found himself immersed in the fast-paced, high-stakes world of a Level I Trauma center. But in addition to managing injuries, Dr. Marzouk gained valuable insights into the implications of untreated tooth and mouth infections, which he saw regularly within the unit. From a minor toothache escalating into severe facial pain to infections spreading insidiously from the tooth, through the mouth, into the jaw and neck, and even further to the chest and back, the dangers were stark and very real. He saw firsthand how these seemingly local infections could become life-threatening if left unchecked.
"These experiences helped me to understand my crucial role as a dentist," Dr. Marzouk says. "I realized I would be the primary bulwark against such pathologies originating from the mouth. Dentistry was not just about taking care of the teeth but also about maintaining overall health and preventing minor issues from snowballing into major complications. These experiences taught me to take a proactive and comprehensive approach to dental care."
Dr. Marzouk's forward-thinking outlook and love for technology-led dentistry have been fueled further by advancements in bonding techniques, computer-assisted design, and 3-D printing. He is particularly excited about the trend towards minimally invasive dentistry provided by the latest innovations and materials.
"Now, instead of relying on ancient methods of mechanical retention for tooth restorations," Dr. Marzouk explains, "I can precisely remove the damaged part of a tooth, scan the remaining structure, and use 3-D printing to create a perfectly fitting restoration. As a result, a chipped tooth can be restored seamlessly in no time."
Though he possesses a highly technical skill set, Dr. Marzouk's patient-focused philosophy emphasizes open communication, and he always takes the time to explain procedures step by step to help patients feel relaxed and alleviate any anxiety. By building strong, lasting relationships with his patients, he aims to provide them with a comprehensive, comforting, and personalized experience. His goal is simple: every patient should leave the clinic feeling better than when they arrived.
"I always return to the memory of Dr. Price, my dentistry mentor," Dr. Marzouk says. "His compassionate treatment of my mom's chronic gum inflammation after her brain surgery was inspiring. What truly struck me was his uplifting spirit-a spirit that rekindled her will to endure her painful treatments. His was an exceptional display of empathy, and I aspire to embody that same level of devotion to my own patients."
Beyond his professional life, Dr. Marzouk is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys an active lifestyle. A fan of the Washington Commanders and all of D.C.'s professional sports franchises, he brings the same passion and commitment he displays in his practice to his personal interests here in his new home.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of this remarkable community and captivated by its vibrant yet relaxed vibe," Dr. Marzouk says. "I've joined a local pickleball team, and this summer, I'm hitting the beach, of course. But what really drew me to this locale was Midgette Family Dentistry. The practice's dedication to advanced technology definitely influenced my decision to relocate, but above all, I'm inspired by the incredible team-all highly skilled professionals who consistently deliver excellent patient care. In my eyes, everyone here is an all-star, tirelessly working towards bettering patient experiences."
