2011 stihl Tour des Trees Tour comes to Virginia Beach
The 2011 Tour kicked off with a 30-mile, one-day Ride for Research presented by Mid-Atlantic Stihl in Virginia Beach, then headed west to Williamsburg, Richmond, Charlottesville and the Appalachians. Seven days and 500 miles later the Tour concluded with a triumphant entrance into Washington DC. This week of cycling, spectacular autumn scenery, public outreach and fun supported tree research and education programs.
Dominion Virginia Power, one of the sponsors, coordinated the tree planting at First Landing State Park. From left: Tour Des Trees Volunteer Sue Wells, Nancy MacKerrow, Max Bartholomew of Dominion Virginia Power and Mary DiCarlo of The Tree Fund.
