Over 150 people attended the dedication ceremony of the  Indian River High School Athletic Stadium.  Speaking at the event were Superintendent Dr. James Roberts, former IRHS student and current Principal of Oscar Smith Middle School Mrs. Kinyatta Garrett, School Board Chairman Mr. Jeff Bunn, and Mayor of Chesapeake Dr. Alan Krasnoff. The ceremony was followed by a VIP dinner in the cafeteria and then a half time ceremony in front of close to 5,000 fans at the football game that followed. The Indian River High School Athletic Stadium was named after Mr. James Frye for his 27 years of service as principal of the school. Over $7,700 was raised in less than a month to fund the project.
