Portsmouth Sports Club

The Portsmouth Sports Club held its July meeting at the Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club.  The club’s new president, Sharon Moore, called the meeting to order, and introduced the new members of the Board of Directors.  The club presented a check to the Sports Club Foundation in the amount of $11,170. Mahlon Parker of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament also presented a $1,000 check for deserving athletes to further their education. Virginia Wesleyan’s men’s cross country and track and field head coach Mat Littleton gave an inspiring presentation on his coaching philosophy—explaining how sports teach young people the value of cooperation, teamwork, punctuality, winning with humility and losing with grace.
