Historic Cradock's patriotic salute and bike parade
The residents of Portsmouth's Cradock neighborhood have a lot to be proud about. One of the first two government planned communities in the nation, it is also the site of American's first shopping center. On July 4th, the community gathered for the 90th annual Flag Ceremony, complete with a children's bicycle parade led by the local fire department an address by City of Portsmouth Mayor Dr. James W. Holley, III, and refreshments, fellowship and fun. Co-sponsored by DAV Chapter 41 and VFW Post 993, the event was a smashing success.
Frank Hobox and his 2-year-old grandson Matthew Fraas participated in the bike parade in a vehicle Frank made out of spare bike parts.
