Catch-up With the Chesapeake Sports Club
The Chesapeake Sports Club held their December meeting at the Chesapeake Convention Center. President Louis Tayon thanked members for the support he received this past year and then turned the gavel over to new president Steve Johnson. Wayne Martin announced the month's outstanding high school athletes, all from Hickory High School: Cameron Riedy and Jodi Tolarchyk for cross country, and Kristen Ferguson for field hockey. Linda Laumann, long time cheering coach at both Indian River and Hickory High Schools, was inducted into the Legends of Honor. Victorious 1996 Super Bowl Coach Bobby Ross gave an inspiring and humorous presentation as the guest speaker. The 2016 Jamboree is scheduled for March third, with keynote speaker John Riggins.
