April Meeting of the Portsmouth Sports Club was a moving experience
The Portsmouth Sports Club held their April evening meeting at Roger Brown's in Old Town. Prospective new members were invited to attend. President James Short gave a history of the club and its mission in the community. Since its founding, the club has awarded over $400,000 in college scholarships to deserving high school students. Particularly moving were three past recipients who gave testimonials on how much the awards helped defray the costs of their college educations. Mike Birnop, color analyst for the Virginia Tech Hokies, gave an informative talk on this coming season.
