The 7th Annual Miss Virginia Recital was held at the home of Don and Alvene Buckley in Hickory. Raffles and auctioned items raised money for scholarships for the Miss Virginia Pageant. The Buckleys have been active for decades in local and statewide pageants. Alvene is well known for her successful mentoring of young women in their quest to be responsible community citizens as they participate in beauty pageants.
