Kids contribute by doing chores, buying food for Hampton Roads families

Demonstrating its commitment to giving to others, Primrose School at Cahoon Commons recently helped feed families suffering from hunger in this area by donating to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Pre-schoolers and kindergarteners shopped with money they raised from doing chores. These items were added to the total collected by over 100 Primrose Families totaling 1,303 food items.

Hundreds of children from Primrose Schools across the nation participated in a food drive over the past month, but they did much more than simply bring in items from their parent’s cupboards, franchise owner Claudia Macon says. The students earned money by completing extra chores at home, reviewed grocery store sale advertisements to find best values on nutritional food, created a detailed shopping list and took a field trip to shop for non-perishable food items, teaching them many life lessons while aiding local families in need.
