A Powerhouse Performance
The Laramie Project, produced by Kellam High School's Drama Department, recently opened to a packed house. Jeremiah Albers, a 1996 graduate of Kellam High and noted director, was asked to direct this difficult project. He brought with him several community actors who joined forces with the students to form a dynamic and unique ensemble. The show follows The Tectonic Theater Project as they interviewed the people of Laramie, Wyoming, in the wake of Matthew Shepard's beating and death. It brings to life still-relevant issues of hate and bullying and counters them with a message of hope.
