Wounded Wear of Chesapeake receives donation and on-site help

The Dominion Foundation recently donated $25,000 to Wounded Wear of Chesapeake and did several volunteer projects to support the non-profit organization.  It was founded by Jason Redman, a combat-wounded veteran.  His injuries made it impossible for him to wear normal clothing, so Redman would rip or cut T-shirts and sweatshirts to fit over the device.  That motivated him to form the Wounded Wear organization, which is rapidly growing in popularity for its donations of special clothing kits to support, encourage and uplift his comrades who are scarred so others can live free.

About a dozen Dominion volunteers built a new and improved handicap accessible ramp, installed a flagpole with shrubs and lighting, painted, did power washing and landscaping at the organization's headquarters at 4200 Indian River Road. Chesapeake City Councilman Cliff Hayes, Diana Williams from Congressman Randy Forbes' office, and Julie Gifford from Governor Bob McDonnell's office were also on hand.
