G Gathering Mayor’s Youth Day with the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office

Mayor’s Youth Day with the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office

On Mayor's Youth Day, representatives from city departments are shadowed by local high school students. The goal is to educate students about the function of government and open their eyes to different career options.
The Chesapeake Sheriff's Office made four students honorary members of the office for the day. The students were paired up with a Public Information Officer, the Director of Training, the Court Services Lieutenant and the Civil Enforcement Lieutenant. The students were given a tour of the jail, then experienced a typical day in the different departments of administration, courts, civil enforcement and training.
The teens had a lot of fun, networked with the deputies, and then went out for lunch.
