EVMS and Obici Healthcare Foundation join forces to battle diabetes
EVMS has opened the Strelitz Diabetes Center of Western Tidewater with grant support from the Obici Healthcare Foundation. The center is located in the Sentara Obici Hospital Medical Office Building. The Strelitz Center welcomes both uninsured and insured patients, concentrating on the detection, prevention and management of diabetes and its most common complications: foot, eye and kidney diseases. In keeping with the center's community focus, free screenings are offered on a walk-in basis every Friday.
The leadership team at the EVMS Strelitz Diabetes Center includes David Lieb, MD, the Program Director, and Jerry Nadler, MD, the Harry H. Mansbach Professor and Chair, Department of Medicine, and Vice Dean for Research.
The prevention of diabetes is one of the most important components of the Strelitz Diabetes Center of Western Tidewater.
