Mayors Youth Day
Recently, the Chesapeake Sheriff's Office took part in 'Mayor's Youth Day,' in which representatives from city departments are shadowed by local high school students. The goal was to educate students about the functions of government and open their eyes to different career options. Students were paired up with the Director of Training, the Court Services Commander, the Support Services Commander, and the Corrections Commander. The mentors gave the students a tour of the jail, then let them experience an average day in their line of work. Sheriff Jim O'Sullivan took the students out to lunch and presented them with certificates of participation.
