Newest show opens at Council Gallery
The Currituck County Arts Council recently opened its latest show, SOUNDSIDE at the Council Gallery located in the Moyock Branch Library. Entries were judged by Jeff Harrison, Chief Curator of the Chrysler Museum of Art. Three awards were selected. First place was presented to artist Shirley Williams for her watercolor painting, No Seatbelts. In a very rare feat second and third place ribbons were won by artist Sheila Carsten for her pen and ink setting, Progression and her acrylic painting, Sundown. The show will be on display until mid-January when a new show, on loan from the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, will be installed. The public is invited and there is no admission charge.
Jeff Harrison explains fine points of the first prize work to, from left, Stephanie Henkel, Jan Hodgis and Lois Thomas.
